If you live in a hot or humid climate, and curious which of our undershirts is best suited for that type of climate, read on!
I live in a VERY hot and humid place so I need your suggestion for the best undershirt for tropical weather.
By the description I think the fabric from the Execwear would be the best undershirt for me, but the v-neck opening looks less pronounced, I think it will show up.
It actually doesn't look like an undershirt and I kind of like it as a t-shirt with jeans.
The CoolWear Supima cotton undershirt looks to have more "cleavage", more like a true undershirt. So, it is maybe more discreet under a dress shirt but probably hotter and not as wicking.
What's your opinion?
Best Undershirt For Hot/Humid (Tropical) Weather
Thank you for contacting RibbedTee Customer Service and for your interest in our undershirts!
We'd be happy to assist you with identifying which of our undershirts would be ideal to wear in a hot, tropical climate.
In warmer or humid climates, or if you tend to sweat alot, the two most important factors are:
- Staying cool (not overheating)
- Having enough sweat protection to minimize the possibility of getting sweat marks on your outer clothes
As such, we'd recommend something from our Extra Lightweight Undershirt category.
Within that category, we have both fitted and relaxed fit options.
You can see a comparison between these two fits here.
EVO TENCEL (Fitted, 130-135gsm)
Our EVO TENCEL undershirts are lightweight and fitted, with a touch of Lycra for stretch and recovery.
They will wear close to the body, feel cool on the skin, and offer some smoothing around the chest area.
TENCEL is one of the best performing yarns with moisture transport and management, as it will distribute moisture (sweat) quickly through the structure of the fabric.
This will minimize how much sweat reaches the outer surface of the fabric where it can come in contact with your outer-shirt.
We offer this undershirt in a deep v-neck style, as well as a crew neck.
The fabric is absolutely mind-blowingly soft, and will likely be the most luxurious fabric you'll have ever had the pleasure of feeling.
We offer our EVO TENCEL Undershirts in White, Light Grey, and Tan!
Retro Fit (Relaxed Fit, 110gsm)
Alternatively, we have our Retro Fit undershirts, which offer a relaxed fit.
Our Retro Fit undershirts come in two fabric options:
(a) White 50/50 Cotton/Polyester
(b) Heather Grey Tri-Blend (Cotton/Polyester/Rayon)
We also offer this undershirt in a deep v-neck style, as well as a crew neck.
Both items have the same pattern/design/fit, however the different fabric blends provide a slightly different wearing experience.
The 50/50 blend Retros will "cling" a bit to your body, and the Tri-Blend will drape more.
Also, the Tri-Blend fabric, with its Rayon content, feels a bit cooler on the skin.
Both types are extremely soft - 50/50 will be a smoother fabric, and Tri-Blend has a very slight slub-like texture.
Both are amazing undershirts!
What About Execwear & CoolWear Supima Cotton?
Both items are great undershirts, that individually offer a fantastic wearing experience.
Here are some differences between these undershirts, and the undershirts above:
Execwear CoolNylon fabric is approximately146 gsm (grams per square meter).
Our CoolWear Supima fabric weighs in at around 150 gsm.
Both being slightly heavier, they may wear a bit warmer than EVO or Retro Fit.
Sweat Absorption & Drying Time
Our Execwear CoolNylon undershirts will absorb more sweat than our EVO TENCEL & Retro Fit undershirts, however, they will take slightly longer to dry.
CoolWear Supima undershirts are made from 100% Supima Cotton, so they too will absorb more sweat. However, they will take the longest to dry out of all of our undershirts being made purely of long-staple cotton.
Based on the above, we believe our EVO TENCEL & Retro Fit undershirts will offer you:
- A slightly better balance of thinness (to keep you cooler)
- Absorption (to minimize sweat-through and getting sweat marks on your shirts)
- Faster drying time
That said, if you're looking for an amazing performance shirt, you should definitely give our Execwear CoolNylon shirts a try!
We hope the above information will help you decide between our hot weather undershirt options.
